In that respect, the collaborative process returns power to the families and makes space for healing and growth to begin. And while it is the road less traveled, it does makes all the difference both for the families who commit to it and the lawyers who practice it.
holiday wishes
As we at Two Families Law prepare to close up the office from December 20th until January 3rd, in celebration of the winter holidays and to enjoy some restorative joy and rest, we first pause to recognize and send love to all separating and divorced families.
Whether you are considering separation, are in the middle of transition, or are on the other side of divorce, the holidays can be tough. We join you in holding space for the pain, disappointment, and unwelcome quiet that may bubble up. At the same time, we excitedly welcome your feelings of freedom or relief, the birth of new family traditions, and radiant joy for you and your beautiful families, whatever form they are taking right now.
We offer the following “Blessing for a New Beginning” from John O’Donohue as a gift to help you welcome in the new year and your new chapter.
Our team will be back in January and ready to greet new and current client families then. Be well <3
FOR A NEW BEGINNING
John O'Donohue
In out-of-the-way places of the heart, Where your thoughts never think to wander, This beginning has been quietly forming, Waiting until you were ready to emerge.
For a long time it has watched your desire, Feeling the emptiness growing inside you, Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.
It watched you play with the seduction of safety And the gray promises that sameness whispered, Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent, Wondered would you always live like this.
Then the delight, when your courage kindled, And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream, A path of plenitude opening before you.
Though your destination is not yet clear You can trust the promise of this opening; Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning That is at one with your life's desire.
Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk; Soon you will home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.
Welcome, Sarah.
Two Families Law is thrilled to announce that Sarah Hill McIntyre has joined our practice as our newest collaborative family law attorney. Sarah has spent her legal career working to find true justice and healing for her clients. Now we’re just giddy and humbled that she is bringing her gifts and talents to our practice and client families.
Sarah earned her BA and JD from UNC Chapel Hill. Next she worked with the NC Coalition Against Domestic Violence and then the NC Justice Center, guiding DV survivors and brave immigrants through complex, emotion-filled legal processes. Sarah has the unique pair of gifts that collaborative lawyers need: she is as sharp as she is empathetic. Sarah also brings the perspective of a child of divorce who navigates that journey with wisdom and grace.
Sarah began working with Two Families this summer and has soared as an advocate and counselor to our separating families. You can look forward to seeing her around our Lakewood office and helping with your case. Two Families will now have more capacity to bring collaborative, out-of-court, respectful divorce to the families of Durham, Orange, and Wake County.
Welcome, Sarah!
